Rounding out the quilts for great-nieces/nephews is Color Theory.
Our great-niece, Norah, is a talented artist. For her, I began pulling out any art-themed fabric I had, from artist tools to paint splotches.
After I had cut all the art-themed fabrics, my initial thought was to place each print in a 2x3 grid, alternating the prints with black. But when I showed a photo to my friend, Amanda Jean, she said it looked like a checkerboard. Which is not bad but not the look I was going for. Instead, I wanted to mimic the layout I had used for Welcome to London. After pulling out coordinating solids, I was very happy with it.
And the quilt design is very artsy.
An artist's paint palette!
We took it to the local art supply store for some photos.
It was a bit before Thanksgiving, and we happened to be there when an artist was painting windows for Christmas. I fell in love with his truck and he was kind enough to let us include it in a photo.Quilt Name: Color Theory
