59. Easy Medallion

While working at Quilters Paradise, I was reading The Australian Patchwork and Quilting Magazine at lunch the same day this gorgeous fabric arrived at the store. The quilt in the magazine was very pale and chintzy-floral/feminine, but I knew the pattern would work with this fabric--I later found a coordinating border print at Quiltin' Cousins in Pismo Beach.

58. Wrought Iron Fence

The owners of Quilters Paradise brought the pattern back from Fall quilt market. I chose the fabric but not enough contrast between the black and the dark green in the blocks--lesson learned.

56. Rail Fence

Baby quilt for Janae Penner, daughter of Brian and Shana Penner, born July 7, 2005. There is Minkee on the back. When we first put Janae on the floor and on the quilt, she kept rubbing her cheek against the Minkee--I think she really liked it.

55. Just Around the Bend

The border on this quilt is my favorite white/black print ever

52. Red Double X

Made for our bedroom back when it was decorated in red and white, with a red accent wall.

I made a mistake when I laid it out and sewed the blocks together: they were supposed to be 9 across and 10 down. Mine was 8 across and 11 down--so it was long and skinny.

50. Play Ball

This was a baby quilt for Elijah Manginelli, whose parents, Chris and Jen, are very good friends to Aaron and Christa.

Chris is an avid Dodgers fan (just like Aaron) so I had to add the scrap of Dodger fabric just for him.

49. Tactile Quilt

This "tactile" quilt was originally intended for Caleb.

I had made an "heirloom" quilt for him but wanted to make a very soft and tactile quilt, so I used fleece, flannel, Minkee, chenille, etc. After he passed away I didn't want to just put it in a drawer but I also couldn't bear to give it to a baby here in Fresno. My good friend in Oregon, Corky Unruh, had a grandson born in the same hospital, later the same month, so I mailed it to her so hopefully her grandson could enjoy it.
