129. Put a Ring On It

One of my favorite Denyse Schmidt fabric lines has always been Hope Valley.  The colors are so interesting--just "off" enough to be really appealing to me. A Double Wedding Ring quilt had long been on my radar, but when Denyse came out with basically a Single Wedding Ring, called Single Girl, I was on board. As near as I can tell, I began this quilt in 2011.

It involved a lot of cutting using templates, something kind of new to me. And because I was now in my "solids" phase, three of rings were made from solid fabric.

For the backing, I used a lot of scraps and a lot of Hope Valley selvages.

I met Molly Hanson at quilt market one year. She was in the midst of writing a book on machine quilting using a domestic sewing machine, and she volunteered to quilt this one.

Not too long ago I had this on the guest bed for about a month and it reminded me of all the reasons I love this quilt so much.
