Color Box is one of the few rainbow quilts I have made. This was another donation for the MCC quilt auction. To this point, Stars Over Ohio had been my favorite donation. But Color Box completely knocked it off the podium.
As with my previous MCC donations, this one was professionally photographed by Aaron Mullins of Mullins Studios.
I loved every minute of making this quilt. It was all foundation paper pieced with tiny little scraps. Every block was my favorite. :) The pattern came from a magazine called Foundation Piecer. I was then inspired by Rachel Hauser of Stitched in Color when around the same time she made a quilt called Bottled Rainbows.
Image by Rachel HauserI followed her color scheme, using the same Kona solids for the borders that she used in her quilt. Mark designed the border, which I thought was brilliant.
Once again, the quilt hung in the front--once again, such an honor.
When the gavel ended the bidding, I was shocked that it sold for an amazing $5900!!
