My Granny is Amish is a quilt I never tire of. It hangs nearly continually in our hallyway. This was made in the early stages of my exploration of all things solid. I chose one of my favorite colors to be in the center square in all the blocks and it is interesting how the color seems to change depending on what surrounds it.
This is the first time I used 12 wt thread in my sewing machine to do the quilting. I'm happy with how it looks on the front of the quilt.
I am not a proficient machine quilter so I am not happy with how the quilting looks on the back. Since this quilt I have learned how to draw up the thread to the front of the quilt and then bury the threads by hand. However, I do really love the oversized granny block on the back.
Someone I followed online at the time, Katy Jones, really loved my quilt, so I made the blocks in a smaller size and turned them into a pillow. I gave her the pillow at QuiltCon.Title: My Granny Loves Amish
