100. One in Every Kona Color

It seems fitting that my 100th quilt would be a fairly epic one--One in Every Kona Color.

At the time I began this quilt, I had just started working more frequently with solid fabrics. And Kona solids (by Robert Kaufman) had the greatest number of colors--and still do. As of this writing, there are 365 colors. I thought their color card was fabulous and had the idea to recreate it in a quilt.
So I ordered every set of Kona charm packs available from Fat Quarter Shop, hoping that I would have one of each. Turns out, I only had to order a fat quarter of two or three colors.

Then I obsessively put them in the same order as the color card and got to work printing out the color number and color name in the style of another love of mine, Pantone.

I spent a crazy amount of time making sure that everything was correct. Some colors were so close in value that I had to look at them in different kinds of light.

To make the quilt the right size, I had a few spaces to fill, so I copied some of the words from the actual color card.

Making the back was fun as well.

You can never go wrong with black and white striped binding.

This is not a cuddly quilt--the white printable fabric is kind of crinkly. But visually, this is one of my all-time favorite quilts. And right after I finished this one, Kona came out with 27 new colors. :)
